Junk Food!

Junk food can seem so quick and easy. It tastes good and is often very inexpensive.

These are all things that can get us into trouble.

The first thing to do when starting to live with healthy life choices is to replace all these junk foods with healthier snacks.

Raw veggies like cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks and celery are all great choices. Nuts and seeds are also a great way to replace those salty snacks you crave so much.

Avoid Salt Wherever Possible

Salt is only needed if you don’t have enough flavor in your food. Use lots of spices to keep from needing salt to improve taste.

Flavor your foods with natural sweeteners like honey and stevia. You can season your food with lots of great herbs and spices. Play around with different flavors to see what you like.

Have a Nutritious Snack

If you don’t have time to get a full meal, instead of reaching for that candy bar or baked goodies, use a nutritious snack replacement. Anything that is fresh and made from organic ingredients is a better choice.

  Don’t Miss Meals

Don’t attempt to skip meals or snacks as a way to lower your calorie intake.  Eating smaller, healthier meals is a far better way to increase your metabolism.

Skipping meals can make you more likely to make poor choices when you are starving later on in the day.

Have Snacks Handy

Pack snacks in your day bag or purse for times when getting out for a meal isn’t possible.

If you always have something nutritious on you, you won’t have an excuse to make a poor decision about what you eat.

Deciding that you are going to eat more nutritious foods can be great in theory but, harder to put into practice than you thought.

As you do it more often though, you will develop a discipline that is easier to live by.
